![]() The shift ended when the Goggins family routinely drove home at 6am. Goggins' mother recalls working with Trunnis who often flirted with working girls that Trunnis ran up to Canada. Goggins' mother worked with his father in the bar in the rink until three in the morning. After 10 pm the rink closed which meant that Goggins cleaned up the skating rink with his mother and brother before being put to bed by his mother. Trunnis took all the money that the family earned overnight, not sharing any money with wife Jackie Goggins in order to make her financially dependent on him. Goggins' job was to organize the roller skates, while his brother cooked food and his mother was the only cashier, with his father being the DJ. At the age of six, he worked the night shift at Skateland alongside his family. Goggins' father Trunnis was a local businessman who owned a roller skating rink called 'Skateland' that was located in East Buffalo of New York. Goggins contrasts this to his home which he referred to as hell on Earth. In his memoir, he makes the juxtaposition of how he grew up in an area that was filled with what he describes as model citizens consisting of mainly white people.
